Russia prepares large-scale sabotage in Europe: what is known about the Kremlin's plans.
According to ТСН: One of the European intelligence agencies reports on Russia's plans to carry out large-scale sabotage in Europe. Experts are confident that this is only part of a larger scheme.
According to the publication, Russian agents are actively studying road bridges and railways across the continent, looking for vulnerable spots to plant explosives.
The scale of Russia's sabotage activities is striking. It is known that one of the Russian sabotage networks was preparing to blow up planes flying to the United States. The seized explosives were enough to organize mass terrorist attacks in the air.
Earlier, the Polish prosecution stated that the arson of packages in logistics centers of courier companies that occurred this summer in Poland, Germany, and Great Britain was an attempt to destabilize flights to the US and Canada.
Western specialists have also thwarted a number of assassination attempts on:
derailing trains,
setting fire to shopping centers,
poisoning water supplies.
“What is known to the public is just the tip of the iceberg. There are many more things that governments have chosen not to talk about,” commented the situation an expert from Russia at Chatham House, Kir Giles.
How agents operate
Russia is actively recruiting Eastern Europeans and local criminals for its sabotage missions. Operations are managed remotely, using messengers and cryptocurrencies for funding.
Despite the fact that in recent years a large number of Russian spies have been expelled from Europe, Kremlin agencies are trying to re-enter European countries with the help of trained specialists. Some intelligence data indicate long-term planning.
Assessments of Russia's sabotage actions are increasingly being viewed in the context of NATO's 2023 Joint Threat Assessment. The report states that Moscow is preparing its army and economy for a possible war with Europe in the coming years.
According to Western experts, if the US and Europe do not take decisive action against Russian sabotage, it could pose a serious threat to the Baltic countries.
At the same time, specialists believe that NATO demonstrates a high level of awareness of threats. Moscow acknowledges that the Alliance is capable of responding quickly in the event of an attack.
It should be noted that the government of Lithuania declared a state of emergency due to recorded aerial probing and projectiles that came from the territory of Belarus. Lithuanian authorities emphasize that these aerial objects are used for the illegal transportation of goods across the border.
Lithuanian Minister of Internal Affairs Vladislav Kondratovich explained that the introduction of a state of emergency is associated not only with violations of airspace but also with threats to the national security of the country. The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen described these incidents as an “unacceptable hybrid attack” on an EU member state.
Official Minsk denies all accusations and claims to have no relation to these events.
Thus, the situation in Europe remains tense, given the numerous accusations against Russia regarding attempts to destabilize regions. The increasing activity of Russian saboteurs raises concerns among European countries and necessitates a swift response from international structures.
