Drone Strike Kills Elderly Couple During Evacuation Attempt.
The Fate of the Klochkovs
According to TSN.ua: On January 27, Russian military forces attacked a civilian couple, Valentyna (52) and Valeriy Klochkov, with drones as they attempted to evacuate from the occupied village of Hrabovske. Both were killed in the assault. Russian troops had entered the village by December 18, 2025, forcing local residents to seek ways to flee the dangerous area. This incident is part of a wider pattern of attacks on civilians attempting to escape frontline areas.
For over a month, the Klochkovs had been hiding in a cellar, trying to avoid the danger. When they finally decided to evacuate, the couple used a sled for transport. Tragically, during the attack, Valentyna was killed by the first drone strike, while Valeriy initially survived unharmed. However, subsequent drone strikes killed Valeriy next to his deceased wife.
A Relative's Account
A relative of the deceased, Oleksandr Klochkov, stated that
"the Russian military could see these people perfectly well". He added that
"my aunt was either sick or they simply couldn't endure staying there any longer psychologically", explaining why the couple decided to leave their shelter. Recalling the horrific circumstances, Oleksandr noted that
'she was on the sled, she was torn apart'.
Previously, Russian forces had removed 50 civilian residents from Hrabovske, but the Klochkovs did not have an opportunity to be rescued before this incident.
The deaths of Valentyna and Valeriy Klochkov in the drone attack underscore the tragic consequences of military actions in occupied regions. They have become a symbol of the suffering endured by civilians trying to survive under wartime conditions. The events in Hrabovske illustrate the scale of the humanitarian crisis and the urgent need to ensure the safety of non-combatants in conflict zones.
