Russia has for the first time used the R-60 missile on a drone: a new threat to Ukrainian aviation.
According to ТСН: Today, Russian forces have for the first time used the air-to-air R-60 missile on a drone. This information is confirmed by the wreckage of a Shahed-type drone found.
Expert in electronic warfare and military communication systems, Sergey 'Flash' Beskrestnov explained in his blog on Telegram the purpose of such a combination:
'This combination is intended to destroy helicopters and tactical aviation aircraft that hunt for the “Shaheds”.'
It is also worth mentioning that Ukraine has for the first time used the Sting intercept drone to neutralize Russian reactive drones. For example, on the night of November 30, Ukrainian intercept drones managed to shoot down several Russian Geran-3 UAVs with a jet engine.
The manufacturer of Sting drones, Wild Hornets, announced back in September 2025 that Ukrainian forces had achieved interception rates of 60-90% against typical Russian UAVs “Geran-2” and “Gerbera”.
This news indicates an intensification in the use of cutting-edge drone technology in military operations. The use of drones and missile systems highlights the rapid development of the Ukrainian army in the conditions of modern warfare, as well as an increase in their effectiveness in combatting threats from Russian forces. Such innovations may significantly change the tactics of warfare in the future.
