Shahed narrowly missed hitting a passenger train: the operator saw people in the cars

According to ТСН: Last night in the Zhytomyr region, an online-controlled Shahed-type drone attempted to hit an energy facility but narrowly missed striking a passenger train moving below.

Expert in radio electronics and communication, Serhiy "Flash" Beskrestnov, noted that the drone operator saw the train and realized that there could be people on it.

"The Shahed pilot decided to attack the train, but fortunately missed by sheer chance," he remarked.

After the drone fell, there was an accident involving a freight train.

Expert's Word

According to Beskrestnov:

  1. The enemy continues to attack our rear facilities with Shaheds, they have no moral boundaries. The people who peacefully slept on the train narrowly escaped tragedy.

  2. Likely, the control of the Shahed was carried out from Belarus — the distance to the incident site is about 80 km, while from Russia it is too far.

  3. The state needs to enhance the protection of locomotives and trains across the country, not just at the borders. This includes implementing electronic warfare measures against mesh modems and training engineers on action algorithms in case of threats from Shaheds.

Beskrestnov also emphasized that drone attacks with online control indicate the enemy's lack of moral boundaries and a high level of threat to civilian infrastructure.

Recall that former Air Force officer Anatoliy Khrapchynskyi noted that during the massive attack of the Russian Federation on December 23, 2025 the main blow was on the western regions of Ukraine, indicating a change in the enemy's tactics.

This situation highlights the growing threats to civilian objects in Ukraine, as the enemy continues to use drones for attacks. Expert observations indicate the need to strengthen security and infrastructure protection measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
