A Chinese Woman Hospitalized After Chicken and Cabbage Diet: What Happened.
According to ТСН: A 25-year-old resident of China was hospitalized with acute pancreatitis after strictly adhering to a restrictive diet for six months.
Diet and Its Consequences
For six months, the woman mainly consumed boiled chicken fillet and cauliflower, occasionally adding boiled potatoes. She actively shared her weight loss journey on social media, gaining popularity. Her followers even referred to her as the 'goddess of self-discipline' due to her strict eating restrictions and determination in achieving her goals.
Although the results of the diet were impressive, the woman began to experience concerning symptoms such as constant fatigue, general weakness, and deteriorating skin condition. However, even with these signs, she did not seek medical help and continued to adhere to her diet.
Hospitalization and Medical Findings
Soon, her condition rapidly deteriorated: due to severe abdominal pain and cramps, she was urgently hospitalized. Tests showed that the level of amylase in her blood exceeded the norm by almost ten times. This enzyme is produced by the pancreas and is responsible for carbohydrate digestion. Its excess led to self-digestion of the organ's tissues and inflammation.
Doctors emphasized that the woman's dangerous condition likely arose from prolonged ultra-low-calorie and unbalanced diet. They noted that during weight loss, a caloric deficit may occur; however, the diet should be complete and varied.
Experts stressed that even beneficial foods like chicken fillet and cauliflower cannot provide the body with all necessary nutrients when consumed for a prolonged period without other components. Excessively restrictive diets can disrupt the digestive system and lead to serious illnesses, including pancreatitis.
