How Ukrainians Aged 40+ Can Claim 2000 Hryvnias for a Health Check-Up.
Health Screening for Over-40s: A Guide to the 2000 Hryvnia Benefit
According to TSN.ua: Ukraine's Ministry of Health has launched the 'Health Screening 40+' program, offering citizens aged 40 and over a 2000 hryvnia subsidy for a comprehensive medical examination. This initiative aims to improve early disease detection and ensure older adults have better access to preventative healthcare services. Such state-funded screening programs are becoming increasingly common as nations seek to reduce long-term healthcare costs.
The program is funded as a priority expenditure by the State Treasury. Eligible citizens can apply for the funding to cover their check-up. Demonstrating significant public demand, the program received over 12,000 applications in its first month of operation.
Lyudmyla Syrota was the first patient to successfully use the program, receiving 2000 hryvnias in her account. She noted: 'The process was very simple. I set up a card in the 'Diia' app, which took less than five minutes. I received the 2000 hryvnias in my account just four days later.'
The subsidized examination takes about an hour and includes the following components:
- A health questionnaire
- An electrocardiogram (ECG)
- A blood test
- A consultation with a doctor
- Referrals to specialists if needed
This allows for a thorough assessment of a patient's general health and the timely identification of potential medical conditions.
How to Apply for the Program
There are three convenient ways to submit an application:
- Via the 'Diia' mobile application
- On the official website: screening.moz.gov.ua
- In person at Administrative Service Centers (ASCs)
These multiple channels are designed to make the application process accessible to a broad range of citizens.
The 'Health Screening 40+' program represents a significant step toward improving healthcare standards for middle-aged Ukrainians. Given the increased risk of age-related illnesses, timely screening can dramatically improve the chances of successful treatment. With its straightforward application process and rapid funding disbursement, the initiative has the potential to become a widely used tool for disease prevention across the population.
