Fatal accident on the "Nizhankovichi–Stryi" highway

According to ТСН: A tragic road accident occurred in the Drohobych district of Lviv region, resulting in the death of the driver of a passenger car, while the female passengers of a bus sustained injuries. The incident took place on the "Nizhankovichi–Stryi" highway around 1:50 PM.

Preliminary data indicates that the accident involved a Kia Niro car driven by a 51-year-old local resident, and a "Bogdan" bus managed by a driver of the same age. Due to the collision, the driver of the car and five women passengers of the bus aged 63, 67, 69, 76, and 79 were injured. All victims were hospitalized.

Unfortunately, despite the doctors' efforts, the Kia driver could not be saved — he died in the intensive care unit.

Investigation and preventive measures

The transport department of the Lviv police has launched a criminal proceeding under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This article provides for a punishment of up to eight years in prison with possible suspension from driving for up to three years. Law enforcement is working to establish all the circumstances of the accident.

"Attention to traffic participants — a comprehensive set of preventive measures is underway in Lviv region to monitor road safety in order to reduce the number of road accidents, their prevention, and to ensure compliance with traffic rules by drivers and pedestrians. To this end, the number of patrol police response teams has been increased, as well as community police officers are involved in the activities in the most accident-prone areas and places of concentration of road accidents, including those with fatalities and injuries," the message says.

Recall that recently, on November 25, a fatal road accident also occurred on the M-30 highway near the village of Vesele in the Oleksandriia district.

This tragedy once again emphasizes the importance of adhering to traffic rules. The police stress the need to be careful behind the wheel and to ensure safety, as similar incidents can have the most serious consequences for people's lives. The situation on the roads requires constant monitoring and preventive measures to avoid new tragedies.
