Rationale for the New Lunar Priority

A key factor in this refocus is the technical challenge of Mars travel, which is only possible during a brief launch window every 26 months. In contrast, launches to the Moon can occur roughly every 10 days, with the journey itself taking only about two days. This makes the Moon a far more accessible and practical target for establishing a permanent settlement in the near term.
