The court refused to confirm the charges against Oleksandr Hranovsky: details of the decision.
According to inkorr.com: Judge of the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court Oleg Pavlyshyn refused to confirm the charges against Oleksandr Hranovsky. He believes that the prosecution did not provide sufficient evidence to support the suspicion from October 21, 2022, and the amended suspicion from October 3, 2024. The judge considers that the evidence presented does not support the charges, particularly that Hranovsky instructed actions that caused damage to the enterprise, or that he managed abuses in favor of Newscope Estates Limited.
The protocol of the examination of telephone communications, which justified Hranovsky's communication with other participants, does not contain confirmation of the connection of the numbers to the suspect.
Thus, the appellate instance upheld the decision of the investigating judge from August 20, 2024, and did not satisfy the appeal of the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office. During the consideration of the case, the court found that the evidence and testimonies provided were insufficient to charge Oleksandr Hranovsky with abuse of power or corruption. The court also emphasized the lack of direct evidence of the suspect's participation in the mentioned actions.
In the case under review, the court decided that there was insufficient evidence to confirm the charges against Hranovsky for abuse of power or corruption. The suspect was released due to the lack of evidence confirming his guilt. Thus, the court recognized the deficiencies in the evidence base that did not allow supporting the charges against Hranovsky.
