According to TSN.ua: The Ukrainian city of Sumy came under a concentrated attack by Russian drones on February 17, resulting in strikes on civilian infrastructure sites. Air raid sirens have been sounding in the Sumy district since 08:44 in response to the assault.

Local authorities confirmed the city is under attack from hostile unmanned aerial vehicles. Artem Kobzar stated:

“There have already been several direct hits. The threat of repeated strikes remains.” - Artem Kobzar

Oleh Grygorov added that “the Sumy community is under a mass attack by Russian drones.”

Current Conditions and Official Guidance

The situation in the city remains tense, with law enforcement urging residents to exercise caution.

This drone barrage is part of the ongoing escalation in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which began in 2014. The use of drones to target civilian infrastructure endangers local residents and has raised significant international concern. Such attacks on cities near the Russian border have become increasingly frequent. Authorities are advising the public to follow all safety protocols, underscoring the severity of the situation and the need for preparedness against potential further strikes.
