According to TSN.ua: Kyiv is bracing for a severe cold snap on January 31, 2023. National Red-Level Danger Alert Declared
A nationwide red-level danger alert has been issued for Ukraine from February 1 to February 3 due to the extreme cold. Forecasters warn that in some regions, air temperatures could drop as low as -30°C. A northeasterly wind of 7-12 m/s is also expected, which will significantly increase the wind chill and make conditions feel even colder. Such severe winter weather is a serious hazard in a country still managing the impacts of ongoing conflict.
Authorities are urging citizens to exercise extreme caution and take all necessary measures to protect themselves from the dangerously low temperatures.
The rapid temperature drop in Ukraine poses serious health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups such as the elderly and children.
The public is strongly advised to follow all safety recommendations to avoid hypothermia and other cold-related dangers. This intense freeze is also likely to disrupt transportation and strain energy infrastructure, making it crucial to stay updated with the latest information from meteorological services and local officials.
