In Kyiv, a taxi driver was kidnapped at gunpoint: police detained the attackers.
According to ТСН: In Kyiv, two men threatened a taxi driver with a gun and forced him to drive them around the city for free. During their detention, they also made threats towards the police officer.
Events in the Shevchenkivskyi District
Law enforcement received information about this incident that occurred late in the evening. In the Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital, two men approached a taxi driver who was waiting for a passenger, got into the car, and, threatening him with a gun, forced him to drive away.
“For a long time, the driver was forced to drive around the city and follow the attackers' instructions, who used the car for their own purposes. Around midnight, while in the Nyvky area, the driver noticed a police crew and, seizing the opportunity, appealed to the law enforcement officers for help.”
Detention and Consequences
During the conversation with the police, one of the taxi passengers threatened to use a weapon, pointing a gun at the inspector. The police quickly responded and detained both suspects, 28-year-old residents of the capital.
One of the detainees had a gun, which was confiscated and sent for expert examination. Investigators of the Shevchenkivskyi police department, under the direction of the Shevchenkivskyi district prosecutor's office, announced charges against the suspects under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, in particular, under part 1 of article 345 of the Criminal Code (threat or violence against a law enforcement officer) and part 2 of article 146 of the Criminal Code (illegal deprivation of liberty or kidnapping of a person by a group of individuals).
The punishment for these articles is up to five years of imprisonment.
Another Incident in Kyiv
It is also noteworthy that on December 24, in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, law enforcement officers stopped a 48-year-old Mitsubishi driver for inspection. The man suddenly started moving and hit a police officer.
This incident is another example of the growing aggression in the city. Law enforcement emphasizes the importance of maintaining legality and safety, as well as urging the population to be cautious in such situations. Despite the risks, such incidents highlight the importance of police work and their readiness to act in crisis circumstances.
