Heat Supply Restored in Kyiv

According to TSN.ua: Following an attack on energy infrastructure on January 9, 2023, heat is being restored to 32 apartment buildings in Kyiv. Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced the progress on January 18, 2023, noting that repair crews are working under extremely challenging conditions. These ongoing attacks on civilian infrastructure are a hallmark of the conflict, creating a constant battle to maintain basic services.

Currently, outages are reported in 143 buildings across the city. As Mayor Klitschko stated:

“Work is ongoing at 32 high-rise buildings, out of the 6,000 households where heat supply has already been restored.” - Vitali Klitschko

Specialists are working urgently to restore heating for residents. Klitschko added that the situation remains difficult due to freezing temperatures and emergency power outages. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal emphasized that the combination of severe cold and aging infrastructure is causing persistent local breakdowns, further complicating the heating situation in the capital.

The Critical Need for Stable Heating

Restoring heat in Kyiv is a vital step to improve living conditions for residents, especially during a harsh winter. However, the state of the energy infrastructure remains critical, requiring urgent measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Given the continuing frost, ensuring stable supplies of both heat and electricity for all households in the capital is now a paramount necessity.
