According to ТСН: Rescuers have completed emergency recovery work in all areas of Kyiv affected by the night Russian shelling. Four people died as a result of this attack, and another 25 were injured with varying degrees of severity.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) reported that the search and rescue operation continued without interruption, despite difficult conditions and the risk of repeated strikes. SES units managed to rescue 32 residents of the damaged houses.
“As of 17:00, according to the Russian attack, 25 people were injured, among them — five rescuers who were performing their duties. Unfortunately, four people have died. Rescuers worked overnight in several areas of Kyiv to promptly extinguish fires and clear the rubble,” said the SES.
Psychological service specialists also worked at the impact sites, providing assistance to about 80 Kyivans who experienced stress or lost their property.
What is known about the attack on Kyiv
On the night of January 9, the Russians deliberately attacked heating plants in Kyiv. In some areas of the capital, there were outages of electricity and interruptions in water supply due to damage to substations, lines, and generation facilities.
As a result of the shelling, four people died, and at least 25 were injured.
During the massive air attack on Kyiv, Russian troops reportedly used dozens of missiles of various types and over two hundred strike drones.
Unfortunately, during the night attack, 56-year-old medic Serhiy Smolyak, who had 30 years of experience and loved his grandchildren dearly, was killed. The tragedy occurred when the ambulance crew attempted to rescue the injured on Bazhana Avenue.
This attack serves as another sad reminder of the ongoing war in Ukraine and the price ordinary people pay. Rescuers and medics, risking their lives, continue to fulfill their duties under dangerous conditions, trying to help those who need it most.
