“It should be noted that in October this year, the Sviatoshyn Police Department received a report from a 23-year-old local resident about the burning of the entrance door to her apartment in a high-rise building. During the investigation, police found out that the door was set on fire by the complainant's mother, with whom she had a conflict. The 44-year-old woman came to her daughter's entrance and ignited the entrance door of her apartment with a lighter,” the statement said.
Law enforcement officials detained the woman and seized material evidence. Investigators charged her under part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — willful damage to property by arson. Currently, the police have completed the pre-trial investigation and sent the indictment to the court.
For her actions, the mother faces up to 10 years of imprisonment.
Earlier in Kyiv, a man started a fire to attract the attention of his neighbors.
The case of the door arson in Kyiv demonstrates how urgent conflicts can lead to serious offenses. Society is usually unaccustomed to such manifestations of aggression from family members, which emphasizes the importance of constructive conflict resolution. Legal accountability in such situations is crucial to prevent violence and protect citizens.Read also
