According to ТСН: On the morning of December 1, a Land Cruiser 200 Prado car belonging to a developer of laser targeting systems for long-range missiles from the 'Polyus' institute exploded in New Moscow on the territory of a residential complex. At the time of the incident, the scientist, a Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, was outside the country.

This was reported by Russian Telegram channels and the publication 'Here's How'.

According to information from several public posts, the exploded car belonged to a research staff member of the 'Polyus' research institute named after Stelmakh — an enterprise that has been sanctioned and specializes in producing components for the 'Kalibr' and 'Iskander-M' missiles.

The first news of the explosion, which completely destroyed the car, appeared in local chats. The incident occurred near the building on Rainbow Street, 10 in the 'Grad Moskovsky' residential complex. The published videos and photos show a powerful flame, and the debris of the car was scattered 10-15 meters, indicating the explosive nature of the event.

According to some eyewitness accounts, 'the sound was such that it seemed not just a car exploded but something flew in'. However, many others denied this version.

That same night, a threat of an attack by Ukrainian drones was reported in the Moscow region, but the warning was canceled a few hours before the explosion.

The official causes of the incident are currently being established, and FSB employees are working at the site.

There are no casualties — at the moment of the explosion, there were no people in the car or nearby. However, the building near which the car was parked suffered damages: the Telegram channel SHOT reported broken windows on the third and fourth floors. The make of the destroyed car — Land Cruiser 200 Prado — has also been confirmed.

The Telegram channel 112 clarified that the burned car belonged to a 41-year-old quantum electronics specialist, an employee of the 'Polyus' institute named after Stelmakh. At the time of the explosion, the man was on a business trip in one of the Southeast Asian countries.

It should be noted that the 'Polyus' institute named after Stelmakh specializes in developments in the field of quantum electronics and, according to official information, is a leading Russian scientific center in the area of laser technologies. The institute is part of the 'Shvabe' holding of the state corporation 'Rostec' and is significant for the Russian military-industrial complex.

Recall that in the spring, key Russian army general Yaroslav Moskalyk died due to a car explosion involving a Volkswagen Golf in the Moscow region's Balashikha. He was the deputy head of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and was responsible for planning strategic operations of the Russian military in Ukraine, as well as personnel planning and combat readiness. The explosion likely occurred due to the detonation of a homemade explosive device with destructive elements, activated remotely.

The situation with car explosions belonging to military specialists raises concerns among the Russian authorities. Owners of such vehicles are becoming targets amid rising tensions. This incident is yet another indicator of the instability characterizing the current political situation in the region.
