In the Rada they told how many billions are missing in the budget for 2025.

Ukraine plans to spend a significant amount on defense and security in 2025, despite the growing national debt. This was announced by the head of the Budget Committee of the Verkhovna Rada Roksolana Pidlasa.

According to her, Ukraine plans to allocate 2.2 trillion hryvnias for defense and security, which is a larger amount than the actual expenses this year. However, along with the increase in defense spending, the country will face an increase in the costs of servicing the national debt.

"This is also our reality - we live in debt. In 2025, to cover non-military expenses, we will have to borrow another almost $37 billion, and we have to use them wisely," Pidlasa emphasized.

The overall increase in budget expenditures in 2025 is expected to be at the level of 5%, but new sources of income have not appeared, and the planned tax changes will cover only part of the expenditures. There is also the issue of international funding, which is currently unexpectedly low and requires finding additional sources of funds.

Ursula von der Leyen, head of the European Commission, proposed a loan of 35 billion euros for Ukraine, which will be repaid from the profits of frozen Russian assets. The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine explained the conditions under which Kyiv can receive this amount from the EU.
