Russia claimed a drone attack on Moscow: what is known so far.
According to ТСН: On the night of January 1, 2026, a drone attack was recorded in Moscow, as reported by the Russian authorities.
The ministry indicated that the air defense forces of the Ministry of Defense of Russia allegedly destroyed several drones heading to the capital.
Statement from the Mayor of Moscow
The Mayor of Moscow, Sergey Sobyanin, claims that the air defense successfully dealt with the attack, shooting down, according to him, at least several drones. He also reported that specialists from emergency services are working at the crash sites.
At the same time, the mayor did not provide information regarding possible casualties or damage to infrastructure. Other official data on the aftermath of the attack has not yet been released.

Massive blackout in the Moscow region

Street lighting, traffic lights, and mobile communication were not working there.
