The Security Service of Ukraine identified the impact sites of the Oreshnik missile after the strike on Lviv region.
According to ТСН: The Security Service of Ukraine discovered the impact sites of debris from the medium-range ballistic missile 'Oreshnik', which Russian forces struck in the Lviv region late on the evening of January 8.
The SBU press service reported that 'according to preliminary information, the discovered components belong to the missile system 'Oreshnik'. SBU investigators qualify the use of this weapon against civilian infrastructure as a war crime.'
Found details
Among the discovered fragments:
- stabilization and guidance block (basically the 'brains' of the missile);
- parts from the engine unit;
- fragments of the orientation mechanism;
- nozzles from the deployment block platform, etc.
It was noted that Russian troops launched the missile of the 'ground-to-ground' medium-range class from the 'Kapustin Yar' testing ground.
The debris has been classified as material evidence, they are being prepared for in-depth examinations, and investigators are working to establish all the circumstances, organizers, and perpetrators of this crime.
'By attacking civilian objects in our state near the border with the European Union, the Kremlin aimed to destroy the infrastructure of the region under conditions of sharply deteriorating weather,' the SBU emphasized.
This event underscores the seriousness of the threat posed by military actions in Ukraine, especially in the context of an unstable situation. The discovery of missile debris is not only evidence of aggression but also an important step in the investigation of war crimes committed against civilians.
Investigative actions and examinations will help understand the scale of the tragedy and contribute to holding those responsible accountable, which is an important aspect of restoring justice in Ukraine.
