Ukrainian troops have driven the occupiers out of Kup'yansk: details of the counteroffensive

According to ТСН: Ukraine continues to defend its positions amid the large-scale aggression from Russia, demonstrating the ability to counterattack on certain sections of the front.

The situation around Kup'yansk

According to reports from the analytical project DeepState, the situation in Kup'yansk, Kharkiv region, has changed: after a successful counterattack by the Defense Forces, most of the city is now under Ukrainian control, while Russian units remain only in certain areas. On the same day, President Volodymyr Zelensky published a video from the outskirts of Kup'yansk, refuting the Kremlin's claims of 'capture' of the city.

The main details of the operation remain shrouded in secrecy due to ongoing hostilities. Estimates suggest that around 200 Russian soldiers may still be blocked in basement facilities. The Ukrainian military does not disclose its tactical plans, emphasizing the importance of unconventional solutions, maneuverability, and a precise understanding of the enemy's actions.

Counteroffensive and current situation

The counteroffensive near Kup'yansk was a response to increased Russian pressure at the end of summer. After breaking through the Oskil River in September, the Ukrainian defense found itself in a critical state. Large-scale counteroffensive operations began on September 21 involving several units that, during October and November, managed to push the enemy across the river and disrupt its supply lines.

However, on other fronts, the situation remains tense. Russia continues to slowly but surely advance in Donbas and the Zaporizhzhia region, using numerical superiority and continuous replenishment of personnel. According to Ukrainian intelligence, the number of Russian troops is increasing by 8-9 thousand each month, with the total number of Russian troops in Ukraine being about 710 thousand.

Tension in Donbas

The situation in the areas of Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad, and Siversk is particularly challenging. In some cases, Ukrainian units found themselves under the threat of encirclement, and the evacuation of the wounded is complicated by intense shelling and the use of Russian planning bombs.

An additional challenge has been the escalation of actions by Russian drone units attacking logistical and rear facilities. In some regions, losses among drone operators and rear units have already exceeded losses among infantry at the front.

Optimism in difficult times

Despite this, the success in Kup'yansk has become a rare positive signal for Ukraine. It confirmed that through coordinated actions and clear planning, the Defense Forces can stop and push back the enemy even under difficult conditions. Ukrainian soldiers acknowledge pressure and losses but emphasize that organized defense and targeted counterattacks remain crucial for holding back the Russian offensive.

It should be noted that earlier, Kremlin dictator Volodymyr Putin threatened that Moscow would achieve its goals in Ukraine exclusively through military means, rejecting compromises regarding occupied territories and the placement of NATO troops.

The situation in Ukraine leaves many uncertainties, but moments of success, such as in Kup'yansk, strengthen the resolve of Ukrainian defenders in their struggle. International support and resources, which continue to flow from partners, remain vital in helping Ukraine hold the line and conduct counterattacks against the aggressor.
