Survey Ranks Former and Current Leaders of Ukraine’s Parliament

According to TSN.ua: A joint study by the media outlet 'Politarena' and the research firm 'Active Group' has revealed how Ukrainians evaluate the speakers of the Verkhovna Rada. According to the survey, the highest approval among former parliamentary chairs went to:

  • Ivan Plyushch – 19.0%
  • Oleksandr Moroz – 14.4%
  • Leonid Kravchuk – 11.8%
  • Oleksandr Turchynov – 10.9%

Current Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk ranked 10th out of 12 candidates, garnering just 2.6% support. Volodymyr Rybak received 2.4%, while Andriy Parubiy trailed at 1.5%. These figures highlight the low popularity of the incumbent speaker among the Ukrainian public.

The poll further found that 25.8% of respondents believe no parliamentary speaker has ever benefited Ukraine. Additionally, 28.7% of those surveyed were unable to choose an option, which may reflect indecision or a lack of information about the speakers’ performance.

Overall, the findings not only assess individual figures but also underscore a broader public demand for greater effectiveness within the Verkhovna Rada.

Growing Public Concern Over Parliament’s Performance

These results point to rising unease among Ukrainians about the work of the Verkhovna Rada and its leadership. The weak support for the current speaker may signal a need for changes in parliamentary management or more transparent communication with citizens. How political parties respond to this data could also shape future elections and the development of new political strategies.
