Ukrenergo Announces Widespread Power Restrictions for January 16.
Power System Operations Forecast for January 16
According to TSN.ua: Ukraine's national power company, Ukrenergo, has issued its forecast for January 16, indicating that electricity restrictions will be in effect across all regions of the country. This measure is a direct consequence of Russian missile and drone attacks on energy infrastructure, which have severely compromised the stability of the power supply. These assaults are part of a prolonged campaign targeting Ukraine's critical civilian infrastructure.
Types of Restrictions
Two primary types of restrictions will be implemented:
- Hourly outage schedules for residential consumers
- Power limitation schedules for industrial facilities
While Ukrenergo sets the overall consumption limits, the specific timing of the outages is determined by the local power distribution company, or oblenergo.
To improve communication with the public, the emergency hotline 112 has been activated to receive reports regarding disruptions in heating, water, and electricity supply. This will allow for a faster response to issues consumers may face during the restrictions.
The situation within Ukraine's energy grid remains precarious due to persistent attacks on its infrastructure, underscoring the critical importance of a stable power supply for both civilians and industry. The implementation of outage schedules and the new communication line are steps aimed at minimizing inconvenience for consumers and improving the management of energy resources during this ongoing crisis.
