Ukrzaliznytsia Announces Rail Service Changes for February 28, Including Bus Replacements.
Updated Train Schedules and Information
According to TSN.ua: Ukraine's state railway, Ukrzaliznytsia, has revised its train schedules for February 28 in response to the ongoing security situation across the country. These adjustments are a regular necessity as the railway adapts to wartime conditions. In the Kherson region, transport is being organized with a primary focus on passenger safety. Meanwhile, in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, regional trains are only operating to or from the Konotop station, indicating significant movement restrictions in these areas.
Passenger rail service between Lozova and Kramatorsk in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions has been replaced by buses, another direct response to security concerns. In Zaporizhzhia, a nighttime artillery strike caused power outages, which subsequently disrupted transportation logistics in the region. Train service to the Dnipro-Holovny station has been temporarily restricted for the following routes:
- #86/85
- #128/127
- #6
- #40/39
This is a further indication of instability within the national transport network.
Regional Developments
Bus transportation is now the primary means of travel between Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia. In Dnipro on February 28, explosions occurred due to a drone attack. Oleksiy Kuleba, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, stated:
“Regarding the attack by Russian forces on a station in the Dnipropetrovsk region.”
As a result of this incident, a train driver was injured, though his condition is now reported as stable.
Consequently, the situation for rail travel in Ukraine remains complex, and Ukrzaliznytsia continues to adapt its transportation schedules to meet current challenges. It should be noted that the service restrictions apply to these specific long-distance trains:
- #86/85 Lviv - Zaporizhzhia - Lviv
- #128/127 Lviv - Zaporizhzhia - Lviv
- #6 Yasinya - Zaporizhzhia
- #40/39 Solotvyno - Zaporizhzhia - Solotvyno
Amid the continuing military aggression and persistent safety threats, Ukrzaliznytsia is constantly adjusting its routes to ensure secure passenger transport. The limitations on train movements, particularly in areas vulnerable to shelling, underscore the necessity of adapting infrastructure to the new realities of war. These measures also reflect the overall security situation in the country, which remains precarious due to active hostilities. Despite the immense difficulties, railway transport remains a vital component of Ukraine's infrastructure, requiring constant monitoring and timely information updates for passengers.
