In case of emergency - which bridges in Kyiv are the most dangerous.
It has been established that several bridges in Kyiv are in an emergency condition. This situation could become critical in the near future.
The most dangerous bridges in Kyiv
An expert confirmed that the Paton Bridge has officially been recognized as dilapidated. According to the results of the inspections, its use has become dangerous, and a complete restoration or even the construction of a new bridge may be required for repairs. However, no concrete measures have been taken so far – not even a project has been developed.
'To find funding for the repairs amounting to half a billion dollars, detailed documentation must first be created. But even that has not been done by 'Ukravtodor'', noted Bespalov.
In addition to the Paton Bridge, there is another dangerous bridge in Kyiv – the Metro. Both structures have long exceeded their lifespan. Expert Bespalov explained that these key bridges were built over fifty years ago, in the 1970s.
The North Bridge, which connects the city center with Troieschyna, is also in poor condition. Currently, medium repairs are being carried out, but these do not solve the fundamental problems of the design, and the bridge could quickly become completely unusable.
'If we do not start repairs, the bridges could simply collapse', warned the specialist.
Bespalov believes that the government should choose: 'Either a disaster with the bridges or immediate construction work and reconstruction.'
The expert also pointed out the failures of previous governments. He recalled that the reconstruction of the traffic junction before the Paton Bridge before 'Euro-2012' was invented by then-Prime Minister Mykola Azarov without appropriate calculations.
'Difficulties arise when absurd decisions are made just because the boss said so', the expert summarized. There is a serious problem in Kyiv with the emergency condition of many bridges, such as the Paton and Metro bridges. Experts warn of the necessity for immediate reconstruction to avoid a disaster. It is important for the government to make responsible decisions to ensure the safety of citizens and drivers.
