Oil Stains in Odesa: Dead Birds Found on the Shores.
According to ТСН: In Odesa, oil-like stains have been discovered on the shores, as well as dead birds on the beaches.
This was reported by the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Serhiy Lysak.
Local residents note that a persistent smell of oil is felt in the air.
What the Authorities Say
Stains resembling oil have been found near the Dolphin and Lanzheron beaches. Cases of bird deaths have also been recorded on the shore.
“The size and origin are being determined,” Lysak writes.
Relevant services are checking the situation. Representatives of the following have already arrived on site:
- State Ecological Inspection;
- KP “Coastline“;
- Municipal Rescue Service;
- Department of Municipal Security of the Odesa City Council.
They promise to provide detailed information after receiving expert conclusions.
Eyewitnesses report that ducks that crashed into the shore cannot get back on their feet. Concerned residents are trying to save the survivors.
Preliminarily, about 10 tons of oil products have entered the Black Sea.
“The area of the oil spill in the Black Sea due to the leak near Novorossiysk, according to the latest data, is about 350 square kilometers. The minimum estimate of the volume of oil products exceeds 10 tons,” he emphasized.
This situation in Odesa has raised concerns among local residents and ecologists. It is extremely important to monitor the consequences of oil products entering the sea, as this can significantly affect the region's ecosystem. Authorities promise to provide updated information once all details of the incident are clarified.
