Odesa schools cancel autumn break: reason for the decision announced.
According to inkorr.com: The Odesa City Council decided to cancel the autumn breaks in schools in 2025 due to possible difficulties in learning due to a lack of lighting in autumn. This was reported by the director of the Department of Education, Olena Buiňević.
"We do not know what winter awaits us, although we suspect. While there is light and the day is still long, we must take advantage of every opportunity to learn," she wrote.
She also emphasized that the last week of October will be dedicated to reviewing material, eliminating educational gaps, and consolidating knowledge. During this period, control papers and homework will not be conducted. In addition, the possibility of extending the winter break is being considered.
Attacks on Ukraine's energy system
The Russian Federation has again attacked the Ukrainian energy system using drones and missiles. On the night of October 10 and 14, massive shelling of energy infrastructure facilities occurred. The situation in the energy system is currently under control, but it is complicated by constant shelling that hinders restoration work. President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Ukraine may have to import electricity due to these attacks.
The cancellation of autumn breaks in Odesa due to potential lighting issues underscores the seriousness with which the authorities approach education and the learning process. At the same time, the attacks on Ukraine's energy system remind us of the ongoing geopolitical tensions and threats from Russia.
