Death of a cadet in Odesa: the military academy is investigating the version of bullying.
According to ТСН: A first-year cadet was found dead at the military academy in Odesa. Law enforcement is considering the version of suicide. The academy's leadership has initiated a service investigation and verification for possible abuses of authority.
This is stated in a message from the academy on Facebook.
"First-year cadet Pavlo S. was found outside the unit's location without signs of life. The circumstances of the incident are being established,"- the message noted.
The academy is actively cooperating with investigative authorities, and a service investigation has already been appointed. The administration added that based on preliminary results, "a series of personnel decisions is ready," which may indicate identified violations in the staff's work.
"The preliminary qualification by law enforcement is suicide. However, the version of exceeding official powers is being investigated. If confirmed, all those responsible will be held accountable under the law. The academy's leadership expresses sincere condolences to the family and loved ones,"- emphasized at the academy.
Circumstances of the tragedy
According to information from various sources, including the Telegram channel SLON FM, the cadet was found on November 26 near the faculty of military intelligence specialists and special operations forces training.
According to unofficial data, the deceased and two other cadets may have fallen victim to bullying by five sergeants. They were allegedly forced to consume inedible mixtures, eat off the floor, and drink saltwater. A day before the tragedy, cadet Pavlo was reportedly beaten by a senior from another course.
This tragedy has caused outrage among cadets and their families. The military academy is committed to ensuring an objective investigation, as such behavior in educational institutions is absolutely unacceptable. The public is expecting the results of the investigation and the necessary measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
