Prices for bread in Ukraine are rising: have Ukrainians started buying less.
Prices for bread in Ukraine are rising, but consumption remains stable. This was reported by Olena Lapshova, marketing manager of LLC "Lesaffre Ukraine", at the forum "Grain and Processing: Development Despite the War – 2024". People continue to buy bread in the same volume, despite its increasing price. This indicates the importance of bread in the consumer basket. Expenditure on bread accounts for 2% to 8% of total consumer spending.
"Sales of traditional breads and loaves are decreasing, while toaster bread, scones, filled pastries, lavash, baguettes, and puff pastry products are on the rise," Lapshova noted.
Lapshova also noted that several important trends are observed in consumer behavior. Firstly, there is a growing demand for quick-preparation products and ready meals. Secondly, consumers often prefer products in individual packaging. There is also increasing interest in products from local Ukrainian producers.
Let us recall that a "special" regime has been introduced for some farmers in Ukraine.
