When Soil Hits 10–12°C: The Right Time for Spring Plant Fertilization.
Getting Spring Fertilization Right for Your Plants
According to TSN.ua: To support healthy growth and development, spring fertilization must be done correctly. The essential steps in this process include:
- checking the soil temperature;
- preparing the shrubs;
- mixing the fertilizer solution;
- understanding what results to expect.
A soil temperature of 10–12°C is the critical threshold for starting fertilization.
How to Prepare the Fertilizer Solution
For feeding plants, it is recommended to prepare a solution using 10 liters of water. The main ingredients for this mix are:
- 10 grams of universal 20-20-20 fertilizer;
- 10 grams of ammonium nitrate as well.
Additionally, any type of rooting stimulant can be used to further encourage root system development. As an alternative to the rooting stimulant, you can use 16-16-16 nitroammophoska combined with ammonium nitrate.
After applying the fertilizer, shrubs are expected to show signs of revival within one to two weeks, giving gardeners and farmers confidence in the plants' healthy growth. Spring feeding is a crucial stage in plant care that supports successful development throughout the entire season.
Proper spring fertilization is a key factor in ensuring plant productivity.
Given shifting climate conditions and their impact on crops, gardeners must pay close attention to both the timing and methods of fertilization. This approach not only promotes healthy plant growth but also improves long-term yields.
