Lukashenko Preparing Martial Law in Belarus: What It Means for Ukraine
The Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko is planning to impose martial law in his country. Formally, the draft law to enable this step was written by the Ministry of Defence.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Belarus.

Why Lukashenko Needs Martial Law

Belarus plans to change legislation to make it easier to impose martial law. The authorities explain this step as a desire to ensure the reliability of defense and security within the country.

But the local dictator Alexander Lukashenko is suspected of wanting to suppress any possible opposition sentiments and assist Russia in the war against Ukraine.

When Will Martial Law Be Imposed in Belarus

According to the draft law written by the Ministry of Defence of Belarus, it states that martial law can be imposed not only in the event of war on the territory of the country but also due to a number of different 'military threats'. One of these 'threats' is an 'armed attack on the union state,' which is the Russian Federation.

Thus, despite the fact that no one has attacked Russia, on the contrary, it itself attacked Ukraine — this draft law will allow Lukashenko to impose martial law in Belarus immediately after the vote in the handpicked parliament.

Recall that we previously reported that the SBU discovered an agent of the Belarusian KGB who was spying at the border.

Additionally, we reported that joint Russian-Belarusian military exercises 'Zapad-2025' will take place on the territory of Belarus in mid-September 2025.

Belarus is preparing for the possible imposition of martial law, which may raise many speculations about Lukashenko's motives. The population is waiting for further steps from the authorities and the reaction of the international community to this situation.
