Tragedy Strikes the Znov-Novhorodska Community
According to TSN.ua: On February 21, 2023, a devastating incident occurred in the Znov-Novhorodska community of the Shostka district, resulting in the deaths of four people. The casualties included a police officer, his wife who was a paramedic, and two young men they were attempting to evacuate. This attack highlights the severe dangers faced by first responders in the region. The tragedy unfolded when an enemy drone targeted an ambulance that was transporting wounded individuals.
The deceased officer was identified as 32-year-old community police officer Serhii Slavskyi. He was killed alongside his 25-year-old wife, Khrystyna, a paramedic. They had been providing aid to two young men, aged 17 and 24, who had been injured by an explosive device. All four individuals perished at the scene due to the drone strike.
The ambulance driver was also severely injured in the attack and hospitalized in critical condition. According to the Sumy Oblast Police, the ambulance was hit by the enemy drone while traveling through the village of Chyhyryn, leading to the deaths of Serhii Slavskyi, Khrystyna, and the two wounded patients.
