From 2026, Ukrainians over 40 will have free medical checkups.
Medical checkup program for Ukrainians over 40 years old
According to inkorr.com: Starting January 1, 2026, a program of medical examinations for citizens aged 40 and over will be launched in Ukraine. The government has allocated 10 billion hryvnias for this initiative in the budget for the next year.
Under the program, Ukrainians will be able to receive preventive examinations for free, funded by the state through the 'Diia' app. Upon reaching the age of 40, citizens will receive notifications with information about recommended diagnostic examinations. Funds for these examinations will be automatically transferred to a virtual card in 'Diia', and individuals will be able to choose a medical facility for diagnosis.
Main goals of the program from the Ministry of Health of Ukraine
Health Minister Viktor Liashko noted that the goal of the program is the early detection of cardiovascular and oncological diseases, as these ailments are the main causes of mortality among older people.
'We want to detect disease at early stages and save lives, instead of treating already advanced diseases,' Liashko emphasized during a television broadcast.
In addition, Ukrainians can receive another 85 medications for free thanks to the 'Affordable Medicines' program.
Thus, the Ukrainian government is launching a medical checkup program for individuals over 40 to ensure timely detection of cardiovascular and oncological diseases. This is intended to improve the overall health of the population and reduce mortality rates from these diseases.
