Two-Day Closure for Kosyno Border Crossing in Zakarpattia Due to Technical Upgrades.
Temporary Suspension of Operations at Kosyno-Barabash Border Crossing
According to TSN.ua: The Kosyno-Barabash border crossing on the Ukrainian-Hungarian frontier in Zakarpattia Oblast will temporarily suspend all passenger and vehicle processing for two days due to technical work. The restrictions will be in effect from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on both March 10 and March 11.
During this period, installation work to connect new modules to the electrical grid will be carried out, necessitating the halt in processing. The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGS) has noted that even when operational, the crossing of persons and vehicles may experience slowdowns. This crossing is a key link in regional trade and travel between Ukraine and the European Union.
Advice for Using Alternate Border Crossings
To avoid delays and ensure a smooth border crossing, travelers are advised to use the following alternative checkpoints:
- "Vylok — Tisabec"
- "Velyka Palad — Nagyhodos"
- "Astei — Beregsurany"
This will help prevent congestion and facilitate uninterrupted travel for citizens.
The technical work at the Kosyno-Barabash crossing is part of ongoing infrastructure modernization aimed at improving border crossing conditions. It is important for travelers to be aware of these restrictions and plan their journeys accordingly, utilizing alternate routes. Such upgrades often reflect broader investments in border infrastructure, which can enhance long-term control efficiency and security.
