Zelensky Confirms Russian Arms Deliveries to Iran: What We Know About the Barter Deal.
Moscow and Tehran’s Arms-for-Technology Swap
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has revealed that Russia is supplying weapons to Iran in exchange for technology and military hardware. According to him, Ukraine’s intelligence services have verified this information, pointing to deepening cooperation between Moscow and Tehran. This arrangement marks a shift in their military relationship, which until now has largely seen Iran providing drones to Russia.
He is supplying Iran, and we know it—our intelligence confirms it. We have already seen the results of strikes on neighboring countries of Iran, in the Middle East. Volodymyr Zelensky
The Ukrainian leader also highlighted that Russia is funding Iran’s military programs, while Iran continues to send drones to Russia. Zelensky noted that the Russians have received thousands of Iranian drones, which are being used in attacks on Ukraine. 'Now the opposite is happening: Russia is transferring weapons,' he added. This evolving dynamic underscores a troubling new phase in Moscow-Tehran military ties, raising concerns for global security.
Ukraine’s Outreach in the Middle East
In response to these developments, three Ukrainian teams have been dispatched to the Middle East to bolster cooperation. A key part of this initiative is a visit by Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Secretary, Rustem Umerov, to the region. Kyiv aims to strengthen collaboration and intelligence-sharing with Middle Eastern nations amid the escalating situation driven by Russian-Iranian arms deals.
The growing military partnership between Russia and Iran presents fresh security challenges not only for Ukraine but for the entire Middle East. Increasing activity from Moscow and Tehran risks further destabilizing the region, alarming the international community. Ukraine’s diplomatic missions to the Middle East reflect its efforts to solidify alliances and expand its influence as the global security crisis deepens.
