Zelensky on elections: Ukraine is preparing for any scenario.

According to ТСН: President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the importance of preparing the country for various scenarios for holding elections.

Responding to journalists' questions, he noted that the main goal is the safety of citizens and stability in the state.

«I am not holding on to my seat, I believe that Ukraine must be prepared for any developments. I requested partners to assist with the security situation if elections take place,»

the president added. To ensure safety and organization of the elections, representatives from various agencies are being involved. Zelensky urged MPs and the government to work out possible options for holding elections in case of changing circumstances.

According to him, it is important for Ukraine's partners to support the country on security issues and provide consultations on scenarios for the development of the election campaign. Preparation for elections includes both security and organizational measures. Parties and the government should develop all possible options so that the country can respond quickly to any unforeseen situations.

«They must work out election options in the near future, so that in any situation the state is prepared,»

Zelensky noted.

In addition, it is important to note that there is still no legislative document in Ukraine that would allow for preparations for elections in wartime. This was emphasized by the first deputy speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Oleksandr Korniienko. He also noted that there are not even drafts of such decisions, and any changes to the electoral legislation must be discussed publicly. The safety of voters, both in Ukraine and abroad, is a key condition for holding elections.

Korniienko also noted that the state cannot guarantee safety in frontline territories, thus the issue of opening polling stations there remains unregulated. Preparation for elections requires comprehensive solutions; however, none have been proposed to Parliament so far.

Thus, the situation with holding elections in Ukraine remains complicated, especially in wartime conditions. It is important for all parties — both the authorities and parties — to find a common approach to ensure safety and organization of elections, as this is the foundation for stability and democratic development of the country during this difficult period. The future of Ukrainian democracy depends on how cohesively these issues can be resolved.
