Ukraine Nears Drone Defense Agreement During Zelenskyy’s Qatar Visit.
Ukrainian President’s Diplomatic Mission in Qatar
According to TSN.ua: On March 28, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Qatar as part of a broader tour across the Persian Gulf states, with security cooperation topping the agenda. This visit comes in response to growing requests from regional nations seeking collaboration with Ukraine, especially on countering drone threats.
Forging Security Ties with Gulf Nations
A number of Persian Gulf countries—including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait—have approached Kyiv for partnership in this critical area. Ukraine is now preparing to finalize an air security agreement with Saudi Arabia, leveraging its battlefield experience in drone warfare, which has become increasingly relevant for regional allies.
Zelenskyy stated: 'I have arrived in Qatar. Real security is built on partnership, and we value everyone who is open to working together for this cause.'
The trip underscores Kyiv’s push to strengthen international defense and security alliances.
Zelenskyy’s visit to Qatar signals a more active Ukrainian foreign policy in the Middle East, where nations are eager to boost their defensive capabilities. Partnering with Gulf states could open new avenues for Ukraine’s defense industry growth and reinforce its strategic global partnerships.
