Zelensky proposed the candidacy of Fedorov for the position of Minister of Defense.
According to ТСН: The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky submitted a proposal to the Verkhovna Rada to appoint Mykhailo Fedorov as Minister of Defense.
Member of Parliament Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported that the National Security Committee has already supported Fedorov's candidacy.
Support for the appointment
The Committee on Energy and Housing and Communal Services also agreed to the appointment of Denys Shmyhal as Minister of Energy and First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine.
19 deputies voted “for”.
Dismissals and new appointments
This decision became possible after the Verkhovna Rada voted to dismiss Fedorov from the position of First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Digital Transformation, for which 270 members of parliament voted.
The President noted that Fedorov's candidacy was chosen due to the need for significant technological advancement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Zelensky emphasized the achievements of the former minister in the field of digitization and the development of defense technologies, particularly in the production of drones, the volume of which, according to him, has reached over 1000 units a day.
Denys Shmyhal, who is currently the Minister of Defense, was offered another position – Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Energy of Ukraine.
The appointment of Mykhailo Fedorov as Minister of Defense underscores the importance of integrating modern technologies into the military sphere, which is particularly relevant in today's conditions. At the same time, the change in the position of Minister of Energy reflects a strategic approach to managing the country's energy security in the context of war and the energy challenges facing Ukraine.
