Ukraine Implements Hourly Power Outage Schedules Starting January 29: Regional Details.
Hourly Power Outage Schedules for Ukraine
According to TSN.ua: Starting January 29, 2023, Ukraine will implement scheduled hourly power outages across all regions. This measure is a direct response to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, which have severely damaged the national power grid. These controlled blackouts are necessary to balance the load on the electrical system and prevent a total collapse. This situation highlights the ongoing challenges to civilian infrastructure during the war.
In the capital, Kyiv, approximately 710,000 consumers are currently without power. The new schedules aim to regulate electricity supply in a managed way to reduce strain on the remaining infrastructure.

The power outage schedule for Zaporizhzhia Oblast includes the following periods:
- 12:00 AM to 2:00 AM
- 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM
- 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM
- 1:30 AM to 6:30 AM
- 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM
- 7:30 PM to 12:00 AM
Details for schedules in other Ukrainian regions are not yet available. Authorities are urging consumers to prepare for changes in their power supply and to follow all recommendations for conserving electricity.
This decision underscores the critical state of Ukraine's energy sector amid the ongoing conflict. The implementation of outage schedules is an attempt to preserve the stability of the energy system and avoid widespread blackouts and major technical failures.
The government has called for public understanding and readiness for these changes, emphasizing the need for collective responsibility during this difficult period.
