December 30: the day of Saint Anisija and folk signs about the weather.
According to ТСН: Tomorrow, December 30, in the Orthodox calendar is the memorial day of Saint Martyr Anisija. Anisija was born around 284 in Salonika in a wealthy Christian family. She grew up in piety and faith and, after the death of her parents, inherited a significant fortune, which she generously distributed among the poor and needy.
Saint Anisija led a strict spiritual life, devoting time to prayers, fasting, and helping the sick. She lived during a time of brutal persecutions of Christians under Emperor Maximian (286–305), when for their faith they were subjected to torture and even execution without trial.
Once a pagan warrior tried to force her to join a pagan festival and participate in a sacrifice to the sun. Anisija firmly refused and, trying to defend her faith, spat in his face, affirming her devotion to Christ. The warrior's response was immediate: he struck her with a sword, leading to her martyr's death.
The Church Feast on December 30 - the memorial day of Saint Blessed Zotik, Presbyter
Zotik was born in Rome in a pious family that provided him with a Christian upbringing. He dedicated himself to serving God and became a presbyter, actively helping the needy in Constantinople, where he moved after Emperor Constantine the Great made this city the new capital of the Roman Empire.
Zotik not only engaged in charity, but also defended the Orthodox faith during the spread of Arianism — a heresy that denied the divinity of Jesus Christ. His position led to tense relations with the authorities.
Saint Zotik was accused of mismanagement of funds received from the previous emperor. Showing charitable institutions for orphans and the sick, he received a heavy punishment: he was tied to two mules and dragged over stones, which caused him severe injuries, and ultimately accepted a martyr's death.
