Ukraine Implements Hourly Power Outage Schedules Starting February 4th.
Hourly Power Outage Schedules for Ukraine
According to TSN.ua: Starting February 4, 2023, Ukraine will implement scheduled hourly power outages across all regions. This measure is a direct response to the severe damage inflicted on the nation's energy infrastructure by massive Russian missile and drone attacks. These controlled blackouts are necessary to stabilize the power grid and reduce the strain on the crippled energy system. This is part of a broader, ongoing effort to manage the severe energy crisis caused by the war.
Outage Schedules by Region
In Kyiv, emergency outages will specifically affect the Darnytskyi and Dniprovskyi districts. The capital's outage schedule is divided into groups:
- Group 1: Outages from 00:00 to 03:30, 08:30 to 15:00, and 17:30 to 24:00.
- Group 2: Outages from 00:00 to 04:00, 09:00 to 16:00, and 18:30 to 24:00.
In the Mykolaiv region, residential consumers will be without electricity for an average of 14-15 hours per day. The local schedule includes periods such as:
- 00:00 to 01:30,
- 06:00 to 11:30,
- 13:30 to 19:30,
- 21:30 to 00:00.
In Zaporizhzhia, individual outages will last 2 to 5 hours, with a total daily loss of power for 12-15 hours. The regional schedule includes blackouts from:
- 00:00 to 02:00,
- 06:00 to 11:00,
- 15:00 to 20:00.
The introduction of these hourly schedules is a critical step to support the national energy grid during the extreme challenges of wartime. Authorities are urging citizens to show understanding regarding these restrictions and to follow all recommendations for conserving electricity.
This decision underscores the grave situation within Ukraine's energy sector due to the war and highlights the urgent need for such measures to preserve the stability of the power supply.
These scheduled outages serve as a vital tool for managing the load on the energy system, allowing for the most efficient use of available resources and helping to safeguard the remaining energy infrastructure.
