January 4, 2026: What holidays and events will be celebrated in Ukraine and the world.
According to ТСН: January 4, 2026, is a Sunday. It is the 1410th day of the war in Ukraine.
Tomorrow is a holiday
Tomorrow, January 4, believers will celebrate the Day of Remembrance of St. Theoctistus, Abbot. This Palestinian saint of the 5th century was one of the founders of organized monasticism in the Judean desert. He was a close disciple of St. Euphemia the Great and the abbot of the monastery near his laurels. Theoctistus was known for his humility, wisdom, and strict way of life, nurturing monks in prayer, obedience, and love for God.
On January 4, both in Ukraine and worldwide, World Hypnosis Day is also celebrated. This date was initiated by professionals in hypnotherapy and psychology to raise awareness about hypnosis, dispel common myths, and demonstrate its real possibilities in science and medicine. Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention where a person becomes more sensitive to suggestion. Contrary to popular belief, during hypnosis, a person does not lose control and remains in reality.
Additionally, January 4 is marked as Day of the Hit Parade. This unofficial music holiday is dedicated to popular music, chart hits, and the phenomenon of hit parades that reflect the aesthetic tastes of the time. Hit parades serve as a musical chronicle, showing which songs brought people together and became the soundtracks of their lives.
Furthermore, January 4 is celebrated as World Braille Day. This writing and reading system allows individuals with visual impairments to read, write, learn, and communicate. Braille is not just a font but a key to independence and self-realization for millions around the world.
And on January 4, Earth at Perihelion is also celebrated. This astronomical phenomenon occurs when our planet comes closest to the Sun during the year. It typically happens in early January, between the 3rd and 5th. The orbit of the Earth is elliptical, so the distance to the Sun varies. At perihelion, Earth is about 147 million km from the Sun, while at aphelion (the furthest point) it is around 152 million km.
These holidays remind us of the richness of our culture and nature. They unite people from different countries and traditions, offering the chance to honor and remember vital moments and human inventions. Whether religious, scientific, or cultural, each of these holidays has its own place in our lives.
