According to ТСН: A court in the French city of Besançon has completed a case that has shocked the country for years. Former anesthesiologist Frédéric Peschier has been found guilty of murders and attempted murders of patients.

Details of the Crimes

Investigators found that Peschier intentionally injected dangerous chemicals (including potassium chloride and lidocaine) into patients' infusion bags. This resulted in sudden cardiac arrests or significant bleeding that required urgent intervention.

In critical situations, Peschier often appeared as a 'rescuer', demonstrating to colleagues his supposedly exceptional resuscitation skills. Prosecutors called him a 'poisoner and killer', who disgraced the medical profession, while a forensic psychologist characterized him as a person with split personality, similar to 'Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde'.

Who the Victims Were

The crimes took place from 2008 to 2017 in two clinics in Besançon. At least 30 people were victims of the 'Doctor Death'. In 12 cases, his interventions were either too late or ineffective, and the patients died.

The youngest victim was a 4-year-old child, whose heart stopped twice during a tonsillectomy. The oldest victim was 89 years old.

The first victim was a 36-year-old woman who survived but fell into a coma. Her tests revealed a potassium level that exceeded the norm by 100 times.

Court Verdict

Investigators noticed the abnormal statistics: at the Saint-Vincent clinic where Peschier worked, the mortality rate from cardiac arrests under anesthesia was six times higher than the national average.

Prosecutors stated directly to the defendant:

“You turned this clinic into a graveyard.”

Peschier himself denies his guilt and claims that he has been framed. He cited the Hippocratic oath as proof of his innocence. However, the court sentenced him to life imprisonment with a minimum sentence of 22 years.

Meanwhile, in Switzerland, a 41-year-old man was charged with the murder and brutal destruction of the body of his wife – a model and finalist in the 'Miss Switzerland' contest, Kristina Yoksimovich. Police released horrifying details that resemble a horror movie plot.

This case has become an important trigger for discussions about ethics in medical practice and oversight of doctors' actions. The verdict handed down should serve as a warning to other medical professionals, as well as prompt more rigorous monitoring of cases of inadequate treatment in hospitals.
