Ryazan Oil Refinery Attacked for the Ninth Time This Year: The Plant Supplies Fuel for the Russian Army.
According to ТСН: On the night of December 6, explosions were heard in Ryazan and the surrounding region. According to ASTRA's analysis, the local oil refinery was once again targeted — this is the ninth attack on this facility since the beginning of 2025.
Residents of Ryazan and the surrounding area reported a series of explosions. The governor of the region confirmed that following debris from downed drones, fires broke out, but there were no casualties.
Attack on the Oil Refinery
During the attack, eyewitness videos were recorded. ASTRA analyzed these clips and concluded that the Ryazan Oil Refinery was affected. The distance from the filming location to the fire center is approximately 500–800 meters. The likely fire zone is marked in red on the released map.
The Ryazan refinery has a designed capacity of 17.1 million tons of oil per year and is among the largest oil refining enterprises in Russia. The plant produces gasoline A-92/95/98/100, diesel fuel, jet fuel TS-1, liquefied gases, and other products. The average annual production volume of aviation kerosene is about 840 thousand tons. In addition, the plant supplies fuel to the aerospace forces of the Russian army.
According to ASTRA, this is at least the ninth attack on the Ryazan Oil Refinery this year.
Drone attacks have also been recorded earlier in the Krasnodar region, where the seaport in the city of Temryuk was hit, leading to a large fire. There, transportation of oil products is taking place.
Additionally, drones have also visited Chechnya, where the situation remained tense.
These events indicate a persistent trend of attacks on critical infrastructure, raising concerns in the regions. It is important to monitor the situation's development since it affects economic stability and security in the country. At the same time, the response of the relevant services and the consequences of the events may have long-term effects for the region and its residents.
