Russian Shahed Drone Strike on Kryvyi Rih Kills One, Injures Three.
Drone Attack Targets Kryvyi Rih
According to TSN.ua: On January 29, 2023, Russian occupying forces attacked the city of Kryvyi Rih using Iranian-made Shahed drones. The strike resulted in one fatality and three injuries, including two women and one man. These drones, often called "kamikaze" or loitering munitions, have become a frequent threat to Ukrainian cities, targeting both infrastructure and residential areas.
City leader Oleksandr Vilkul reported that the enemy targeted residential buildings in two locations. Following the attack, at 17:24, emergency services extinguished fires ignited by the strikes. This incident occurred just days after a similar drone attack on January 26, which caused a fire in a multi-story residential building in the Ternivskyi district of Kryvyi Rih.
Response by Authorities and Rescuers
State Emergency Service (SES) rescue workers continue to operate at the scene, clearing debris. Oleksandr Vilkul also noted that construction materials will be organized for delivery to damaged private sector homes. Furthermore, commissions will conduct inspections in the area tomorrow morning to document damages and provide material assistance to affected residents.
This attack underscores the ongoing threat to civilians in Ukraine from the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in the conflict. The Kryvyi Rih authorities are taking steps to support the victims, highlighting the need for urgent responses to the consequences of such strikes. These incidents impact overall security and the humanitarian situation in the region, necessitating continued monitoring and support from the state and international organizations.
