Ukraine's New POW Exchange Model Returns Soldiers During Active Combat.
A New Model for Prisoner Exchanges
According to TSN.ua: Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine's Office of the President, has implemented a new operational model for prisoner-of-war exchanges. This approach enables the return of Ukrainian military personnel even during active phases of the ongoing war. The Coordinating Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War began organizing these swaps at the start of the full-scale invasion, and Ukraine has already conducted three major prisoner exchanges since the beginning of this year. This marks a significant shift from traditional post-conflict repatriation efforts.

Oleksiy Holobutsky commented on the results of the team's efforts, noting that a crucial outcome of international meetings is the liberation of Ukrainians from Russian captivity.
“We see the results our team is achieving. This was the case after negotiations in Abu Dhabi, and we have the same after Geneva. If every round of international meetings is accompanied by the liberation of Ukrainians from Russian hell, that will be the tangible and important outcome of any negotiations,” he said.
The introduction of this new exchange model signals an intensification of the Ukrainian government's efforts to repatriate its captured soldiers. This could become a vital step in strengthening the morale of both the army and society during a protracted war. Regular international negotiations, which are now paired with concrete results in freeing prisoners, underscore the critical role of diplomatic efforts in achieving humanitarian goals amidst the conflict. The strategy highlights Ukraine's commitment to its troops even under the most difficult battlefield conditions.
