According to ТСН: If you want to know the exact arrival time of trains or current changes in the work of stations today, the information below will help you easily navigate the rhythm of the city transport.
We have gathered data about the work of the Kyiv Metro – from the first passengers to the moment of station closure at night. You will also find details about the arrival intervals, which will help you plan your travel time as effectively as possible.
Working Schedule of Kyiv Metro
The metro in Kyiv opens at 06:00 and closes at 23:00. This schedule allows both residents and guests of the capital to conveniently plan their day.
The rhythm of train movement on all three lines is adapted to the needs of passenger flow. On weekdays, during normal working hours, the average waiting time for trains is 5–5.5 minutes. During peak hours, when the load increases, this time is reduced to 3–4 minutes to avoid crowding on platforms.
On weekends, the time between trains increases to 6–7 minutes.
The fare for the metro is 8 UAH for one trip.
The Kyiv Metro is divided into three main lines: red, blue, and green. Each of them plays an important role, connecting remote areas with the administrative and cultural centers of the capital.
The Sviatoshynsko-Brovarska, or red line, runs through the city from west to east, providing quick connections between the Akademmistet station and the Lisova station, which is a significant transport hub on the left bank.
The blue line crosses Kyiv from north to south, stretching from the Heroiv Dnipro station to the Teremky station, providing access to the southern districts of the capital.
The Syretsko-Pecherska, or green line, runs from the northwest to the southeast, connecting the Syrets station with the Chervony Khutir station.
How Metro Operates During Air Alerts
The underground stations of the Kyiv Metro operate around the clock in shelter mode. The Hydropark station, which is above ground, will be closed to passengers during air alerts.
Train movement on the red line during alerts occurs between the Akademmistet and Arsenalna stations.
If the alarm catches you during curfew from midnight to five in the morning, the procedure for entering the station has its peculiarities:
To enter the metro as a shelter, you must have a document proving your identity.
Access to the platform is controlled by police representatives.
You can find an on-duty police officer by the phone numbers displayed at the entrance or using a special bell located at the station entrance.
Each underground station is equipped for comfortable long-term stay. For passengers, the following is available:
Special fountains with clean water on the platforms;
Sanitary facilities and ventilation systems for constant air circulation;
Additional chairs, mattresses, and blankets for those who are forced to stay in the shelter for a long time;
Stable 4G mobile internet in underground halls, allowing you to stay connected.
The Kyiv Metro continues to adapt to the conditions of war, ensuring the safety of the residents of the capital. Information about the work of the metro is important for everyone who relies on public transport in their daily trips.
During air alerts, the metro also functions as a shelter, providing passengers with the necessary conditions. This indicates the importance of the metro not only for transportation but also for the safety of Kyiv residents.
