Pensioners with special merits will receive increased payments: who will get the supplement.

According to ТСН: Within the next year, certain categories of senior citizens will be able to receive monthly supplements along with their main pension. This is stipulated in the Law of Ukraine No. 1767.

It is noted that from January 1, 2026, the amount of the monthly supplement for pensioners with special merits may vary from 23 to 35% of the minimum subsistence for persons who have lost their ability to work. In 2026, the allowance will be from 597 to 908 UAH.

If a pensioner is entitled to several types of supplements, they will receive only one, the highest in amount.

Who can receive supplements

According to Article 5 of the Law on 'Pensions for special merits before Ukraine', pensioners who have significant merits in the development, protection, or glorification of Ukraine may be entitled to special supplements.

Categories of pensioners who may receive supplements:

• cosmonauts who have performed spacewalks or operated experimental aircraft;
• participants in combat actions and war veterans awarded orders for personal bravery and heroism during the defense of Ukraine;
• athletes who have won championship titles or set records at European, world, Olympic, or Paralympic competitions;
• citizens recognized with state awards, honorary titles, or state prize laureates, including those with the title 'Honored'.

How to apply for the supplement

To receive the supplement for special merits, one must submit an application for its establishment. This can be done in person at the Pension Fund office or online via the electronic cabinet.

Documents proving entitlement to the payment must also be provided: certificates, awards, diplomas, references, or other official documents.

In the event of the death of a pensioner entitled to the supplement, part of the payment may be reissued to close relatives. The size of the 'transfer' supplement will range from 70% to 90% of the amount received by the deceased.

It should be noted that in March 2026, pension indexing will take place in Ukraine. The state budget for the next year provides for 251.3 billion UAH for payments to over 10.3 million Ukrainian pensioners, part of these funds will be used for indexing. However, not all pensioners will receive increased payments.
