Train Safety During Alerts: Expert Reveals Where to Go and What to Avoid.
Essential Safety Rules for Train Stops During Emergencies
According to TSN.ua: Safety expert Denys Mykhachenko has outlined key protocols for passengers when trains halt due to an alert, emphasizing individual responsibility. He made it clear that train conductors do not have the authority to order an evacuation. That decision rests solely with the military, who relay real-time updates to railway dispatchers.
Mykhachenko stressed that hiding under train cars is strictly forbidden. Instead, passengers must move 100 to 200 meters away from the train. In the event of a direct strike, the proper response is to lie flat on the ground.
“It’s also important to understand that the conductor does not make the decision to evacuate.”

He added that if a genuine threat to life is detected, the Ministry of Defense will announce an evacuation. Railway dispatchers now have access to military monitoring systems, enabling faster threat assessment and response. This integration significantly boosts passenger safety during travel.
Understanding these procedures is critical for rail travelers, as knowing what to do in an emergency can mean the difference between life and death. The strengthened coordination between railway operators and the military reflects a broader commitment to maintaining high safety standards in an environment of elevated risk.
