The teacher labeled children from the orphanage: the network outraged by the harsh letter to parents.
According to ТСН: The mother of seven-year-old schoolboy Oleksandr Huryanov shared a letter from the teacher in which she expressed dissatisfaction that 12 students did not complete their homework or did it incorrectly. The teacher noted that sometimes she feels that "the children in the class are from an orphanage" and are simply "living through their hours of life." The boy's mother was surprised by their indifference to learning.
She also emphasized that the teacher was shocked by the children, and parents cannot understand such harsh comments regarding their children. Many Ukrainians are shocked by the teacher's reaction, believing that she did not choose the right words in this situation.
Parents emphasized that in elementary school, homework is not mandatory, and blaming children for not completing it is wrong.
Responses in the Network
Here are some reactions from users regarding this situation:
-
"The teacher, who has 12 out of 28 children in elementary school unable to complete their homework, teaches poorly. 1-2-5 cases, let's say, are laziness, but almost half of the class is a signal and a red flag for the school administration that this teacher is no longer a teacher."
-
"People who say that the teacher's comment is okay—are you alright? Did your teacher tell you in childhood that your class is doomed, and you all will work as cleaners, and you now consider this style of communication as normal? If 12 children did not do their homework, the issue might be in the HOMEWORK (which is not mandatory until 3rd grade). The reason can be anything, actually. But the teacher's comment is rude. And her ethics are very, very poor."

"Thank you!!! Personally, in my class, my teacher labeled a few children, calling them 'double losers', and all the kids picked it up and carried it through to 11th grade. How was it for those children?.. A few years ago, one such classmate found me on social media, and the first thing she wrote was: 'Hi, I am the same double loser Olya Timoshka'. That’s how everyone called her at the teacher's instigation. And her name is Olya Timoshik. Interestingly, another calm girl in the class was called Olichka… Here you have the first teacher and her consequences…"

"In the New Ukrainian School, homework in the 1st and 2nd grades is not mandatory, so blaming children for it is wrong. And moreover, it is unacceptable to make conclusions about a child's 'inner world'. A teacher should support, not give such characteristics!"
-
"The teacher is a drama queen, of course, but I understand her. Any skills are formed through systematic repetition. If you want your child to successfully absorb educational material—classwork should be 'reinforced' by homework. Ultimately, homework is not hard labor, your child is not a monster, and the teacher is not an enemy. Work together and the child will grow in a situation of success, not feel abandoned."

It should be noted that the winner of the Global Teacher Prize Ukraine 2021 called for a review of the school curriculum. According to him, some works in the school curriculum are too complex for children aged 12-14. This includes, in particular, 'The Little Prince' by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, 'Don Quixote' by Cervantes, and 'Romeo and Juliet' by Shakespeare.
This situation has caused a wide resonance among parents and educators. The discussion of the teacher's accusations against the students raises questions about teaching methods and attitudes toward children in schools. At the same time, it emphasizes the importance of a conscious approach to learning, where educators must seek ways to motivate students instead of resorting to harsh criticism.
Moreover, the significant interest in the topic shows that issues of self-esteem and the psycho-emotional comfort of children during learning are relevant for society, especially in the context of new educational reforms in Ukraine.
