Massive Manhunt Underway in Iraq After American Journalist Abducted in Baghdad.
Iraqi Security Forces Launch Search for Abducted Journalist
According to TSN.ua: Iraq’s Interior Ministry has announced the start of a large-scale search operation for American journalist Shelly Kittleson, who was kidnapped in Baghdad. The abduction took place on Saadoun Street, where attackers used two vehicles to seize her.
Authorities report that one of the suspects’ vehicles flipped over near the town of Al-Haswa. One individual has already been taken into custody as part of the investigation. According to officials, the journalist was transferred to a second vehicle, which then fled toward Babylon province. Intelligence resources and reinforced field units have been deployed to locate Kittleson.
This incident adds to growing security concerns in Iraq, where foreign nationals face heightened risks amid ongoing instability.
International Community Responds
The U.S. State Department is closely monitoring the situation, though the American Embassy in Baghdad has refrained from providing detailed comments. The search operation comes at a time of escalating tensions, including a recent attack on the U.S. military’s Victory Camp Complex and a rocket strike on the American Embassy in Baghdad.
This kidnapping underscores the increasing dangers for foreigners in Iraq as the security environment deteriorates. Abductions of journalists pose a serious threat to media operations and international relations. Tracking these developments is essential for assessing both the country’s stability and the global response to such incidents.
